Artur Lira, a Brazilian journalist, was recording a news program outside a police station the other day when, much to his surprise, a far more lovely story broke right in front of his eyes.

A cat emerged at Lira’s feet in the middle of his broadcast, demanding both his and the camera’s attention.

As you can see, Lira couldn’t stop laughing at the unexpected interruption (particularly when the kitten surprised him again):

“You can’t be furious since he was so cute,” Lira wrote. “I believe this cat desired to be famous.”

That’s exactly what happened, but the rest of the narrative is still developing.

According to Globo News, the cat is a stray who is being fed and cared over by police at the station — but if all goes as planned, Lira plans to adopt the cat himself. After all, the cat had already chosen him.
