Despite the passage of many years, the story of a leopard and a cow continues to pique the interest of those who live nearby.
Several variants of that one-of-a-kind narrative are frequently heard. And it appears that the narrative of these two creatures is rather poignant.
It all began when a family frequently heard their dog barking in the middle of the night. So they decided to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to investigate what was causing the ruckus in the area. A leopard apparently came to ‘visit’ their pet cow in Antoli Village, Gujarat, India.
Surprisingly, the leopard was not there to k.i.ll the cow. They appeared to know one another and be excellent friends. From October 8 to 22, 2002, the leopard is believed to have visited the motherly cow every night, generally between 9:30 and 11:00 p.m.
The animal then resurfaced from November 4 to November 29, the following year. Not only that, but the leopard continued to visit his ‘buddy’ until the first week of March when he disappeared.
There are several interpretations and anecdotes about what occurred between these two creatures. One of the most well-known popular legends is that the cow and the leopard are good friends since the cow used to help it when it was a youngster.
The leopard’s mother is supposed to have perished when her youngster was just 22 days old. So the cow was the one who fed the cub. The leopard has regarded the cow to be his mother ever since.
