Cheyenne Tyler Berry was doing dishes at home the other day when something outside the kitchen window caught her eye — and then captured her heart.

An older guy and his small dog were strolling quietly along the sidewalk. They were apparently out for a walk.

But, while Berry watched from a distance, they soon made a friend. Berry’s first sight from her window was the dog, who appeared to be overjoyed. Berry told The Dodo, “He was bouncing and getting excited.”

When she approached to get a closer look, she saw it was her neighbor’s orange cat, George, who had piqued the pup’s curiosity while sitting on a little wall.

Rather than urge the dog away, his owner did the exact opposite. He raised the dog in order to make friends with George.

Here’s a video of that moment: The contact was brief for the two creatures out enjoying their day, but Berry will never forget that beautiful exchange of delight.

“It made me cry since I was shocked I got to watch such a wonderful moment in person,” Berry stated, expressing her emotions in an online post: “I haven’t been able to stop smiling since.”
