As a child, being sent on a timeout is the worst. Even if you’re only around for a few minutes, it can feel like an eternity. But there’s a way to make the timeout a little easier: do it with a friend. That’s what happened to a boy named Peyton when he was sent off part-time.
Her mother, Gillian Smith, recently shared a photo on her Facebook of Peyton standing against a wall as punishment for being bad. To his surprise, the family dog stayed by his side throughout the incident.
“When you have a time out, but your best friend won’t let you go through your pain alone,” the Facebook post said.
The photo taken by Smith is quite funny. It depicts Peyton entering the room facing the wall with her head down.
Next to him is his good friend English Mastiff — a dog that is almost twice his size. An adult Mastiff can weigh up to 230 pounds. They really are giant animals, but as long as you have room, they make great pets. Peyton’s hand is seen wrapping around the pup’s head, pressing it firmly against him.
He provided enormous emotional support to the child during this difficult ordeal. They are best friends, so if one of them gets punished, they both suffer together. Three-year-old Peyton was reportedly in trouble because of a fight with her sister.
He had a choice: go to his room to serve his sentence or stand in a corner. Of course, he chose the angle. With his friend standing by his side in solidarity, time will pass so quickly.
It is generally assumed that the timeout should be spent thinking about what you did wrong. However, we can’t blame Peyton for being distracted by the dog. It’s not his fault.
If a dog wants to come up and collapse next to him while he’s facing the wall, it’s out of his control. He’s definitely not going to complain about it or kick it out. The puppy is his best friend and is betrayed to the bone. Fortunately, Peyton’s mother saw the situation in the same light.
She found this whole incident quite funny. “I couldn’t stay mad for long because it was so cute Peyton kissed Dash,” Smith said. “When Peyton had to take the time, I think Dash knew he needed his pal.”
Thousands of other people on social media also agreed with this. Once Smith shared the photo on Facebook, it immediately went viral. It has been shared over 52,000 times. People found it absolutely charming and they couldn’t resist intervening to give their opinion on the situation.
“It’s lovely to see the intimacy between them,” writes one woman. This family has two English Mastiffs and both are just adorable. They are excellent companions. As this Mastiff shows, they are the most devoted dogs in the county. They will be with you in difficult times and will keep you company when you are at an impasse.
